What is the CUET UG exam pattern?

In the most recent cycle (CUET UG 2026), NTA offered 37 tests — 13 languages, 23 domain subjects and one General Aptitude Test. Candidates could choose up to five. Each test had 50 compulsory MCQs in 60 minutes, marked +5 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong one, in computer-based mode.

Is the CUET syllabus based on NCERT?

Domain subject papers are based on the Class 12 syllabus, which closely follows NCERT. Language tests assess comprehension and verbal ability, and the General Test covers GK, current affairs, reasoning and numerical ability.

Is there negative marking in CUET?

Yes. In recent cycles, one mark was deducted for each wrong answer, while correct answers earned five. Unanswered questions score zero.

What is in the CUET General Test syllabus?

General knowledge, current affairs, general mental ability, numerical ability, quantitative reasoning using basic maths taught up to Class 8, and logical and analytical reasoning.

Has the CUET pattern changed for 2027?

NTA has not yet released the CUET UG 2027 information bulletin. This page will be updated once it does; until then, prepare on the 2026 pattern.

How to Prioritise Chapters

Use a priority matrix built from chapter importance and your own diagnostic results.

High-importance chapters where you're weak deserve the most time. Strong chapters only need maintenance practice.

MaintainHigh importance, strong area — regular timed practice.
