Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or an equivalent examination from a recognised board, securing the following minimum aggregate marks:

Appearing Candidates
Candidates appearing for their qualifying examination or awaiting their results are eligible to apply for AILET and appear in the entrance test. However, they must fulfil the prescribed eligibility requirements by the cut-off date announced with the entrance examination results. Candidates placed in the compartment category in their qualifying examination during the admission year will be considered ineligible.
OCI / PIO Candidates
Candidates belonging to the Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) category may apply either under the OCI/PIO category or as Indian nationals, subject to the applicable rules.
Candidates wishing to apply under both categories must submit separate application forms for each category. Those applying as Indian nationals must appear for AILET along with other Indian candidates.
Selection / Admission Process: Admission to BA-LLB (Hons.) is exclusively via the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET), conducted by the National Law University (NLU) Delhi.
Admission under the Foreign Nationals Category
Candidates holding citizenship of a country other than India and possessing a valid passport may apply under the Foreign Nationals category. Such candidates are exempt from appearing for AILET, and admission is based on their fulfilment of the prescribed academic eligibility requirements. The applicable academic qualification and other admission conditions must be satisfied.
The merit lists for candidates applying under the Foreign Nationals and OCI/PIO categories will be prepared based on the percentage of marks obtained in their qualifying examinations, in accordance with the university's admission rules.
AILET 2027 Exam Pattern and Syllabus: Detailed Overview
The AILET 2027 examination for the undergraduate programme will consist of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) carrying a total of 150 marks. Candidates will be given 120 minutes (2 hours) to complete the examination. The question paper will comprise the following three sections:

Legal Principles in Logical Reasoning
No prior legal knowledge requiredThe Logical Reasoning section may include questions involving legal principles to evaluate candidates' logical aptitude and analytical abilities. However, candidates will not be required to possess prior legal knowledge or a technical understanding of law to answer these questions.

Tie-Breaking Criteria
Applied in the prescribed orderIf two or more candidates obtain the same total marks in AILET 2027, their merit ranking will be determined according to the following criteria, in the prescribed order:
- Higher marks in Logical Reasoning: The candidate scoring more marks in the Logical Reasoning section will receive preference.
- Age seniority: If the tie persists, the older candidate will be given preference.
- Computerised draw of lots: If the tie remains unresolved, the final ranking will be determined through a computerised draw of lots.
NOTE: Candidates should carefully understand the examination pattern, marking scheme and tie-breaking rules while preparing for AILET 2027.
